In updating my bio., I am happy to say I am alive and well and living in Roseburg, Oregon still. Upon retiring as Majors in The Salvation Army almost 4 years ago, I wasn't sure what I wanted to get involved with but I figured time would tell. My husband, Mick, and I have become docents at Wildlife Safari in Winston, OR. Check my Facebook photo and you will see us with cheetah twins. It's been fun watching them grow (they were 6 mos. old Sept 1). I never thought I'd be "zoo, or Safari, girl" but I am becoming one. We went through a training course to become docents and are involved in many different areas at Safari. It's more like playtime for us, really. We love it.

Probably the most exciting thing to happen during our career, was our trip to the Holy Land. I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of visiting Petra, Jordan. Israel was exciting, too, and very special. One day when we came down off the Golan Heights, they started shooting over us. SCARY, SCARY, but we were kept safe. We crawled over muddy ruins, felt the passion of the people, and ate fabulous food. I even went camel riding with a Bedouin. It was a wonderful study tour and we both would go again if we could.

I stay involved with lots of things and mainly enjoy just being able to go visit our family in Tasmania and stay as long as I want--not having to come back to a desk piled 3' high with paper work (even in a computer age). We have three grandchildren: 2 tall boys, ages 15 & 16 and a girl, age 6 and beautiful. We are thankful for Skype and the chance to say "HI" every day since they are so far away (NOT fun). Being retried is nice and being able to travel is even nicer.

January of 2011, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy a few days later. After I finished my radiation therapy, I was told the medical team is considering me cured with slim chance of it returning. (I had very early stage 1 that had not spread.) I hope the doctors are right. I am thankful every day for the early detection and I work at living a healthy life without being a fanatic about it. Life IS great!

I am very saddened by the Farmers we have lost for whatever reasons. I know they are missed. May the rest of us live long and be happy and have F-U-N!!.

God Bless You.
